Privacy policy

This policy explains how Labelly handles information when you scan, understand, and save wines. Labelly is operated by Takase Higashiuezato.

Last updated July 12, 2026

Your photos stay yours

A scan may be processed temporarily in the cloud. A wine photo is stored only when you choose to save it.

No ads or data sale

Labelly does not sell personal information, serve third-party ads, or track you across other companies’ apps.

Deletion is built in

In-app account deletion removes your login, wine records, and saved wine images from active systems.

1. Who is responsible

Labelly is operated by Takase Higashiuezato (“Labelly,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). For privacy questions or requests, contact tonyhiga0917@gmail.com.

This policy applies to the Labelly mobile app and this privacy and support website. It does not replace the privacy notices of Apple, Google, or other services you choose to use.

2. Information we process

We process only the information needed to provide Labelly, keep it secure, and support purchases and requests.

Account information

Email address, internal user ID, and profile details that Apple or Google shares with your permission. Firebase Authentication processes sign-in credentials. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

Scans and wine information

Label photos you submit, information extracted from a label, and generated details such as producer, region, vintage, tasting notes, pairings, and estimated price. AI output may be inaccurate.

Your saved collection

Wine records you save, favorites, ratings, personal notes, tasting memories, and related preferences. A photo is uploaded to storage only when you save that wine.

Purchases and entitlements

Subscription product, status, entitlement, and transaction identifiers from Apple and RevenueCat. Labelly does not receive or store your full payment-card details.

Technical and support data

IP address, request time, app or device version, limited diagnostic and security logs, and information you include when contacting support. This static website does not add analytics or advertising cookies, although hosting infrastructure may process request logs.

3. Why we use information

  • Authenticate your account and keep your collection available across supported devices.
  • Analyze a label and return wine information, tasting notes, and pairing suggestions.
  • Store the wines, photos, ratings, favorites, notes, and memories you choose to save.
  • Apply scan limits and provide, verify, and restore subscription benefits.
  • Respond to support, privacy, and account-deletion requests.
  • Prevent abuse, diagnose failures, protect the service, and maintain reliability.
  • Comply with law, enforce applicable terms, and establish or defend legal claims.

4. Where processing happens

When supported by your device and operating system, Labelly may use Apple Vision and Foundation Models to analyze content on your device. If on-device analysis is unavailable or cannot complete the request, the scan may be sent securely to Labelly’s Google Cloud Run backend and processed with Vertex AI.

Cloud-processed scans may exist temporarily while a request is handled and in limited security or operational logs. They are not added to your saved wine library unless you choose Save. Service providers process information only to supply their respective services, subject to their terms and privacy commitments.

6. Sharing, ads, and tracking

We disclose information to the service providers listed above only as needed to operate Labelly. We may also disclose information when required by valid legal process, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer where the recipient must continue to protect the information.

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Labelly contains no third-party advertising and does not track activity across other companies’ apps or websites.

7. Retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above:

  • Account and saved wine data remain while your account is active or until you delete them.
  • An unsaved scan may be retained transiently while it is processed, but it is not stored as a saved wine photo.
  • After deletion, limited security logs, disaster-recovery backups, and records needed for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance may remain for their applicable retention cycles.
  • Backup copies are isolated from normal use and are overwritten or deleted under provider backup schedules. Transaction records held by Apple or RevenueCat follow their own retention requirements.

8. Account and data deletion

You can initiate permanent deletion from Labelly’s Profile screen. Deletion removes the Firebase Authentication account, the user profile and saved wines in Firestore, and saved wine images in Cloud Storage from active Labelly systems. This cannot be undone.

  1. Open Labelly, go to Profile, and choose Delete account.
  2. Read the confirmation and approve permanent deletion.
  3. If you cannot access the app, email an account deletion request from the address connected to your account and include your sign-in method. We may verify your identity before acting.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal information, and to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

  • Review and delete saved wines inside the app.
  • Turn camera or photo permissions off in device settings.
  • Sign out, delete your account, or request deletion by email.
  • Manage or cancel an Apple subscription in your Apple Account settings.
  • Contact us to exercise a legal privacy right or ask how your information is handled.

10. Children

Labelly is intended for people aged 13 or older and is not directed to children under 13. Where local law requires a higher age or parental consent for data processing, use Labelly only with that authorization. If you believe a child provided information without valid permission, contact tonyhiga0917@gmail.com so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

11. International processing

Labelly and its providers may process information in Japan, the United States, and other countries where they operate. Data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, transfers are handled through provider contractual and legal safeguards appropriate to the service and destination.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and encrypted transport supported by our platforms. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Protect your device and sign-in credentials, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Labelly, our providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy here and change the “Last updated” date. When appropriate, we will provide an additional notice in the app before a material change takes effect.
